About Us
What makes Barefoot Yurts so special is the peace and tranquility of its location. A very private spot nestled on the edge of woodland. Surrounded by blissful nature it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a holiday under canvas with all the comforts of a cottage.
The two traditional Mongolian yurts can accommodate a family, couples looking for a unique romantic getaway, or a small group of friends. Both yurts are booked as one accommodation.
The bedroom yurt is fully furnished with a very comfortable hand made oak bed, all sheets and towels etc included. We also provide a plentiful supply of wood for the burner. It is also spacious enough to have extra single beds if required or a travel cot.
The larger sitting room yurt can be used as a place to relax, get cosy by the wood burner, play games or accommodate another couple. The sofa turns into a large comfortable double bed.
The kitchen and shower room are set apart with a covered deck, a lovely place to sit and watch our resident barn owl doing his evening hunting. It has all the equipment you will need including an oven, hob, barbeque, fridge and hot water.
We are great believers in recycling and leaving a small barefoot print, so we have tried to get the balance right by using solar lighting, recycled wood and installing a composting loo. We are very proud to say that 90% of this building has been built using recycled materials.
The location is easily accessed by a track on private land. Secure parking is just beside the yurts although not in view.

An unexpected find. Simple pleasures at their best. Really appreciated the attention to detail - vases of wild flowers, hand made preserves. Makes one feel special. Really impressed with the compost loo (as so many are who came to stay). Good to be reminded how to take a break and leave a big footprint behind.
Views are stunning, beds v. comfortable, our little boy has had a lovely time.
Thanks, Lise Toby and Zach. -

I have only been here for three days and I wish I was here longer. It rained on my first day here, but it was just as good as the sunny days after. I like the loo! It's so different, it's good because its better for the world and you don't waste water.

Dear Julia and Johnny
Another wonderful weekend - we've loved it even more our second visit. Amazing weather, lots of blackberries, Winchelsea beach, open gardens, all so relaxing!

I can honestly say that nothing could have prepared us for how wonderful and special an experience we have had here. This corner of paradise in the English countryside has struck a chord with us. We are leaving feeling invigorated and positive.
Thank you for creating such an incredible place, we will certainly be back to enjoy it in drier conditions and to spend many more happy moments in the place I asked Lorea to marry me.
All our love,

Three girls, two yurts and a few bottles of wine - absolute bliss! We were only here for one night, but it was such a welcome break from the hustle and bustle. Great for a girly catchup over cheese and wine.
Thank you for letting us stay, we will certainly be spreading the word.
Hope you found the dog!

Dear Julia,
What a wonderful week we've had - listening to the wind in the trees, admiring the view, watching the stars. We couldn't have wished for a better break. The yurts are gorgeous and the hosts are too. We can't wait to come back when baby bump is born. Rufus has loved it so much - the space, woodland and nature.
Thank you for sharing this little peace of heaven with us.
Love Robb, Jo and Rufus.
Huge thanks to our friend Robin who took these wonderful photos.
